March Madness

Welcome to March in the White Mountains!

Winter is far from over here and, in true fashion, March brings us a variety of strange weather.  We have snow one day, temps in single digits, then a few days later it’s sunny and 50 degrees.  Mother Nature often has trouble making up her mind lately.

Lucky for us, we still have plenty of snow for some great winter activities.

Spring skiing is always a good time because (usually) it’s a little warmer and less windy, making for a great relaxing day.  Another great benefit to spring skiing is often a break in prices at our nearby ski resorts.

Winter hiking and snowshoeing, sledding and sleigh rides are still an option and snowmobiling in some areas.

Another great experience . . . Does anyone remember Maple Sugar Tours from their youth?

I know that in New England there were always school trips when we were younger where we got to learn about tapping the trees and making maple syrup.  The Rocks in Bethlehem offers a great Maple experience every weekend from mid-March to early April.

Another great thing to do in March – come up and just relax!  Go out to eat or check out one of the fun breweries or wineries in the area.  Spend a day walking around Littleton or even North Conway and visit the local shops and restaurants.

March is a great time to hit some of those stores up for end of season sales as well, whether it’s outerwear or winter sports equipment, something’s always on sale right now!
